I'm sure I'm not the only one who's going to ask this, but I'll get it out of the way.
Just as a precursor I'm fairly new to this site, I've maybe seen it once or twice through the past few months, so I'm not exactly sure if this question has been answered.

Will the game contain NSFW material? If there is, will there be filters for those who do not want to view it? If not, will the relationships be simply be about an emotional connection with the characters?
Also, if there is NSFW material, is there any included in the Demo?

There will be no directly NSFW material in the game, we can guarantee that it would not be classified as 18+. We do plan of having some sort of intimate and romantic scene at the end of the last arc where sex is at the very least least heavily implied, however. We originally had thoughts about making that a full-fledged sex scene, but later scrapped that since it's not really what the game is about. This is a sophisticated Visual Novel, not a Dating Sim porno. If you desperately want to see some pony bits, go look up some rule 34. We do understand that a sex scene in the end can feel immensely rewarding, but we aim to create a similar intimate scene without any overly explicit acts or visuals, that focuses more on the romantic and emotional aspects.

Good move on making it a SFW game. That will allow more people to enjoy the game. I'm curious, will an actual romantic relationship be optional? I've played Persona 4, and the Social aspect let the player choose whether or not to be romantically involved with any of the girls or just be friends. If the romantic route is taken, then what happens at the end is rather implied. Will the game be like that?

To answer your question, players can develop romantic relationships with characters should they pick the right choices in the game. Later on, should you earn enough points with a character they will confess their feelings for you and you have a choice to either accept them or not. Should you do so, there will be changes in the story, side-story, and ending based on who you have a relationship with.

You can choose no, and even ignore having a romance at all with anypony. You can just stay friends as well.

There's always been a lot of overlap between VNs, romance games, and porn. It's easy to get confused. People and marketers use terms incorrectly all the time. Consider the following:

* Number Days Sim Date: worksafe complex romance game with a modest amount of narrative.
* Casual Romance Club: NSFW, a modest amount of simulation gameplay, but not much narrative.
* Fate/Stay Night: sometimes-bleak NSFW visual novel. (Its sex scenes are notorious, and some English patches make them optional.)
* Hatoful Boyfriend: worksafe, a hint of simulation gameplay, but mostly a visual novel. (And mostly absurd comedy.)
* Last Window: mature but worksafe VN, no romance, some adventure-style gameplay.
* A Midsummer Day's Resonance: worksafe story with no choices.

Perhaps this StackExchange Teminology aticle will help.

Who needs visual sex references? We got class and style.......besides, how could you evenly show such a scene tastefully?
